Cinquains

Enemy Within.

Acid
stomach burning
gut churning nausea
gnawing my flesh from inside out.
Just stress.

Golden
sheen through crystal
glimpse of world upside down
savoured from first to last driplet,
glowing.

Snowflake
on my eyelash,
you and I are unique
chaotic fractal creations:
Earth's art.

Raindrops
spilling from clouds,
pearls of precious water
seeping slowly into the earth.
Welcome.

Spiny
quilled anteater
invading sand castles,
a hungry, monotreme foe.
Feast, friend.

Car-crash,
screech, smash, head-bash,
metal gashing, whip-lash,
see everybody turn to see
carnage.

Springtime ~
felt in sun's kiss,
smelt in sweet violets,
when wintercold nightwinds blow you
are gone.

Today,
in my garden,
planting bare-rooted canes.
Next year ~ harvesting ~ luscious ripe
berries.

Eagle,
sky suspended
amulet on azure
inscribe wide pendulous circles
then drop.

Petals,
pale plum blossom,
scented snowflakes swirling,
whirling wildly in windy waves.
Spring fall.

Bird's nest.
Frail feathered breast
in woven contours pressed.
Dart back and forth, no time to rest.
Hope chest.

Fractured
by bright lightning,
dark night comes flooding back;
counting silent seconds before
thunder.
